B&N's Innovative Nook Wireless Book Reader Confronts Amazon.Com's EBook Reader Device
With proprietary formats, as you obtain a book for digital download from Kindle it will come in their own file format .AZW which only allows you to read it on amazon's wireless reading device. So if in the future, obviously after you have have checked out all the digital book readers for the latest model at the best price, you then decided you wanted to switch digital book readers to another make, your collection of ebooks become useless. Make your own mind up if that's reasonable or not.

B&N's Nook Wireless Portable Reading Device has .Epub backing, as does the Sony Daily Edition, and so you can down load your ebooks from where you choose, paid for or free, and not only from the manufacturer of the portable ebook reader , which is the situation with the Kindle 2 portable reading device.
