 How To Quit Smoking - What Is A Study In Smoking Control


This is an article on the ways to set your mind to the correct place so that you make a very studied judgment to stop smoking. This is really a resolution that if you think about what you are doing it just does not make any sense to continue with your smoking at all. By preparing a plan and following it and by knowing what you are going to get as a payoff for stopping this habit you will motivate yourself and remind your own self even when you are tempted that the payoff is so much more for breaking the habit than to go on with a way of life that is costing you dearly both financially and health wise.

I never thought I would be able to stop my smoking addiction. It seemed like I was always waiting until the pressure in my life was at a minimum to begin to stop and of course that just never seemed to happen. I used my smoking as a stress reliever and I just didn't know what to replace it with. I was anxious of gaining weight and it seemed like every time I stopped smoking or even attempted smoking control, I replaced my smoking with eating and as soon as I saw a weight increase over five pound I was once again smoking.

It wasn't simple but I started some smoking control by replacing other activities and habits for times when I would usually smoke. When I decided that I had to quit the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my choice to smoke or to quit. Otherwise what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to keeping my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The health and financial costs of a smoking habit makes the decision to maintain one you cant really argue for in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you love.

After I made my list I hung this list up on my shower mirror and also on my refrigerator door. I wanted each day to see my reasons for changing my behavior this helped considerably since quitting smoking is a decision one has to renew everyday. When you stop smoking you have to suspect there will be times when you will error but in the times past that I backslid, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I backslid and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.

When ever I saw the scales go up I made sure to workout more and not to rearrange eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with anything I usually would not do for myself. If I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette consumption always goes down. I can not say that I do not think about smoking occasionally and very likely always will but I also remind myself that what you save is both money and health. Your clothes don't smell like smoke your hair doesn't reek of smoke and you can taste the food you eat. You can also put the hard cash you would have used for punching smokes into a saving account and watch it grow.
